After more than 30 years behind the stove at his South End restaurant Icarus, chef-owner Chris Douglass headed just south of Boston to open not one, but two casual eateries in his own neck of the woods. Tavolo and sister establishment up the block Ashmont Grill, are beacons of good food and liveliness, drawing hungry diners to Peabody Square in Dorchester.
Conveniently located next to the Ashmont station Tavolo Ristorante offers up something we like to call “Dorchester Italian”. A casual, neighborhood spot to drop in, have a drink, and enjoy a great bite of food.
Centering the space is a large family-style tavolo (or table), that embodies our approach to fantastic house-made food and fare. The dining room offers professional and relaxed service in a comfortable atmosphere – the perfect spot for a night out with the people that our guests call “family”.
Our lively and spacious bar looks out onto the up and coming Dorchester Avenue and we pride ourselves on an ambiance where everybody knows your name. With a constant rotation of weekly specials like trivia, cicchetti, and weekly wine dinners, there is always a fun night waiting for you at Tavolo.
In the kitchen, the double decker pizza oven might catch your eye but house made pasta and charcuterie often steal the show. Our program of “from scratch” recipes and locally sourced specialty items allow our chefs to shine, and the meatballs alone are worth the drive down Dot Ave.
Join us for our famous weekly Wednesday Pasta Tour!
We are located steps from the Ashmont Red Line T Station, in the Carruth building.
There is also open street parking, see a PDF of parking map below. Please feel free to call us with any questions.
